Letter to Shijo Kingo
I received your letter regarding the recent ambush.
Yet, through your vigilance beforehand and the strength of your faith in the Gohonzon, you have survived unharmed. How fortunate! How fortunate!When good fortune runs out, no strategy will work.
When your fortune has been exhausted, even your servants will disobey you. Ultimately, neither luck nor fortune lasts forever.After all, luck runs out, and good fortune is fleeting. Practitioners of Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo are to be protected by Shoten Zenjin. This is stated in the Zokurui-bon, chapter twenty-two of the Lotus Sutra. Moreover, strive diligently to cultivate a strong and vigorous faith!
Regard your survival as a wonder.
First and foremost, use the strategy of Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo, the heart of the Lotus Sutra.
