Jun Hirakushi – From Toyama Prefecture
Overcame a series of serious illnesses with Nichiren Daishonin’s Buppo and was cured of cancer.
I joined Kenshokai in 2015.

In 2010, before I joined Kenshokai, I experienced extreme fatigue and immediately went to the hospital for a thorough examination, where I was diagnosed with kidney failure.
Since then, I have been on dialysis and was suffering from dizziness and other symptoms caused by cerebral blood clots. The judo I had been doing for years caused shock to my brain.
I was also separated from my wife and daughter, and living in agony.
At that time, a member of Kenshokai visited and taught me about Nichiren Daishonin’s Buppo.
At first refused, but I was so moved by the lively and joyful way in which a much younger person spoke of the great benevolent virtues of Nichiren Daishonin that I decided to chant Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo with Kenshokai!
The turning point in my faith was the accidental death of my daughter. She was in middle school and living with my ex-wife. When I heard the news, I lost all hope. I experienced a great sense of pain and despair.
I felt Asai sensei’s compassion for me through the senior members of Kenshokai. They warmly encouraged me.
Later, my ex-wife sent me a letter written by my daughter, who had temporarily regained consciousness after an operation immediately after the accident.
My daughter, who had been told by my ex-wife that her father was being deceived by a bad religion, supported my beliefs.
In the letter, my daughter, who realized that she was dying wrote “I want to reach Jobuts through the power of the Gohonzon!”

At that moment, I was filled with determination from the bottom of my heart to devote my life to Buddhism and send good luck to my late daughter!
And now, through my own illness, I am greatly convinced of the power of the Gohonzon.
In 2017, I felt something wrong with my body, so I went to the hospital for tests and was diagnosed with stage 2 stomach cancer.
Each time, my fear and anxiety about the surgery disappeared, and I decided that I would leave everything to the Daishonin, whether I lived or died.
The endoscopic surgery was a great success, and when the doctor told me that there was no need to worry about metastasis and no need for anti-cancer treatment, my entire soul was filled with gratitude.
When I paid homage to the Daishonin at the prayer hall in Toyama prefecture, I felt warm as if I were wrapped in his robe. I was moved to tears at the fact that I had received so much great luck despite my meager devotion.
Then I had an experience that made me realize the depth of my own fate.
This time, I felt a needle-like pain in my chest, so I underwent an examination and they found that one of the blood vessels entering my heart was 80% blocked due to arteriosclerosis.
Because I was on dialysis, I was diagnosed as “inoperable”. But to my surprise, I received good luck. The blockage in the blood vessels were reduced by 50% which normally would not be possible!
During a check-up, cancer was found in my colon. I asked myself “What’s going on?”
The colon cancer spread, and I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer with possible metastasis to the lungs and liver.
I immediately underwent endoscopic surgery to remove the two cancers, followed by radiation therapy and anti-cancer drug treatment. Then observation.
I was momentarily upset when I heard from the professor of the University of Toyama Medicine. The doctor who was in charge of my treatment, talked about the horror of cancer, saying that metastatic cancer would spread throughout my body.
With the guidance of Asai sensei and the encouragement of my seniors, my fear had been replaced by the conviction that I would be okay no matter what because the Daishonin would be with me.
Even in this situation, I was surprised to find myself telling everyone I met that I wanted them to have unbreakable happiness with the True Buddha’s medicine, Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo.
Strangely enough, no matter how many times I had tests after the surgery, there was no sign of cancer metastasis anywhere in my body.
On the contrary, when I had my last endoscopy in January this year (2021) the doctor said:
“Your colon is so clean that I can’t even see the scars. This is a complete recovery! You’re cured! You’re good to go!”
I was so impressed that I handed the professor a flyer with Mt. Fuji that I was carrying and said enthusiastically, “I am chanting Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo with Fuji Taisekiji Kenshokai!”
Then, to my surprise, the professor said:
“Oh I know this flyer! So, you are a member of Kenshokai too!”

He told me that a doctor at a university hospital once announced that there seemed to be a causal relationship between the faith of Kenshokai and the healing of serious illnesses, and there was a debate between doctors who agreed with him and those who denied it, saying that it was just a coincidence!
I was moved by the fact that Nichiren Daishonin Buddha’s great power and virtue has been discussed in the medical society.
Through my experiences, I am convinced that my recovery was a success because I am chanting Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo that connects with Nichiren Daishonin Buddha, under the guidance of Asai sensei, who correctly conveys the Daishonin’s teachings.
I am determined to do my utmost to realize the Testament of Nichiren Daishonin, which will bring true happiness to Japan and the whole world!
Thank you,
Jun
