Hello everyone!
This month’s Zoom meeting we covered Artificial Happiness.
Everyone wants to be happy.
This is the goal in life. All people have in common the desire to be happy.
As a means or condition for happiness, we try to get what we want in terms of status, wealth, fame, and so on. However, is this temporary happiness real?
We say to ourselves : “I will be happy when I become a celebrity!”
“I will be happy when I become a doctor!”
“I will be happy when I become an entrepreneur!”
These confuse the ends with the means.
So, what is happiness?
What is universal happiness that is common for all people?
The answer to this question is most important for living beings.
The most precious treasure of sentient beings is none other than life,
Nichiren daishonin
and those who take it away from them will fall into hell.
People instinctively fear the loss of their lives more than anything else.
The condition in which the development of life is not interfered with is called “happiness,” while the condition in which it is interfered with is called “unhappiness.”
Once the nature of happiness and unhappiness becomes clear, the content of “Worth/Worthless” and “Good/Bad” will also become clear.
The degree of contribution to the maintenance and development of life is called “Worth” and the degree of harm is called “Worthless.”
Is there a way, then, to make happiness eternally unbroken for all people and nations?
Nichiren Daishonin’s Buppo (Buddha’s Law) which brings eternal and unbreakable happiness, is the most valuable teaching for individuals, for nations, and for all humankind.
